This map has been taken from a book on 'Housing Estates' written by Stanley Gale and published in 1948. Our copy of this image was passed on to us by Mike Ashworth who has put on his flickr page - click here to go through to Mike Ashworth's flickr page.

The map shows the Wollaton Park Housing Estate in its finished form but it is interesting to note that Wollaton Hall Drive has yet to be named and when the map was drawn up it was merely described as 'New Road'. Also clearly evident from the map is the fact that the western portion of the housing estate is still part of Basford Rural District and Nottingham Corporation had yet to extend its boundaries into the likes of Wollaton village.
