Taken on the 2 August 1928 this shows the recently completed Abbey Bridge looking eastward from its junction with Abbey Street. The new road required the acquisition of part of the grounds of the White Hart and the pub's new perimeter wall is all too visible on the left of the photograph. On the right is an old barn which had previously belonged to the White Hart dating from the days when the landlord was also a farmer. In the 1930s the building was converted into a garage. For photographs showing it as a garage check out the Gregory Street page. The original photograph comes from the Nottingham Local Studies Library's collection and their version of the photograph can be examined by clicking here. |
