This shows a 2004 view of Chilwell Street at its junction with Sherwin Road/Castle Boulevard. The western portion is occupied by what is now the Nursery annexe of Edna G. Olds School but was originally the Lenton Undenominational School.

This and the previous photograph were supplied by John Bridgewater.  No.4 Chilwell Street (the second property on the right) was his childhood home.  In the mid 1980s his family emigrated to Australia and both these photographs were taken while on a return visit to Nottingham

A young John Bridgewater seated on his tricycle is snapped in the backyard of No.4 Chilwell Road.

No.4 Chilwell Road had previously been the home of John's maternal grandfather, Billy Mouge, shown here posing with the family cat on his shoulder.  At one time Mr Mouge was a regular patron of the Nag's Head public house on Willoughby Street.  When this came down in the 1960s he switched his allegiance to the Albion Inn on nearby Sherwin Road.
