This shows a 2004 view of Chilwell Street at its junction with Sherwin Road/Castle Boulevard. At that time part of the building housed the nursery annexe of Edna G. Olds School in what had originally been the Lenton Undenominational School. Since then the nursery unit has been rehoused within the main school site on Church Street and these buildings were then sold off and have been converted into the Alzahra Centre.

This and the previous photograph were supplied by John Bridgewater. No.4 Chilwell Street (the second property on the right) was his childhood home. In the mid 1980s his family emigrated to Australia and both these photographs were taken while on a return visit to Nottingham

A young John Bridgewater seated on his tricycle is snapped in the backyard of No.4 Chilwell Road.

No.4 Chilwell Road had previously been the home of John's maternal grandfather, Billy Mouge, shown here posing with the family cat on his shoulder. At one time Mr Mouge was a regular patron of the Nag's Head public house on Willoughby Street. When this came down in the 1960s he switched his allegiance to the Albion Inn on nearby Sherwin Road.
