The first Lenton Flower Show took place in 1900 and was organised by the Lenton and District Horticultural Society. The final show was in 1950. This newspaper photograph taken from the Nottingham Journal shows the Lord Mayor and Sir Albert Ball pictured at the Flower Show in 1930.

This second newspaper photograph shows Sir Albert Ball, now Lord Mayor of Nottingham, viewing exhibits at the 1936 Flower Show.

Peter Gurd gave us access to a copy of the Nottingham Guardian dated Monday September 7 1931. The newspaper included a report on that year's Lenton Flower Show and included this photograph and the one shown below. The caption accompanying this photograph read: Fine Celery being brought in at Lenton Flower Show, an annual event which is highly popular in the district.

The caption on this accompanying photograph read: At Lenton Flower Show - some of the beautiful baskets of roses which were a feature of the show.

All the profits from the Lenton Flower Show were given to the Nottingham Children's Hospital where a child's cot had been endowed by the Horticultural Society. The following photographs focus on the 'Lenton Cot'.

Taken at the Children's Hospital in 1938, this photograph shows some of the members of the Horticultural Society gathered for the purpose of handing over the £1,000 to Mr J D Player who was 'Father' of the Hospital.

This is a copy of the postcard produced showing the Lenton Cot in situ at the Children's Hospital with a young patient evidently in the bed.

A close up of the caption seemingly displayed above the bed in the picture postcard reveals that The Lenton & District Cot had been originally inaugurated by the Lenton Priory Football Club in 1900 but was now supported by the Horticultural Society.
